The Dawoodi Bohra community of Melbourne celebrated Australia Day 2021 by conducting a flag-hoisting ceremony in compliance with government regulations of social distancing. The ceremony was attended by Mr Peter Dimarelos from the city council who was impressed by the community’s activities in Melbourne and deeply held belief of patriotism as prescribed in a prophetic tradition which says, ‘Love of one’s country is an integral part of the faith’.

The local representative of His Holiness, Mr Ibnemadyan Jamali hosted the event along with members of the community. In the midst of beautiful weather tagged with light rain, young children and elderly alike ignited the Australian spirit by reciting the National Anthem with live piano music and confetti to celebrate the occasion.
