Construction of the first Dawoodi Bohra Masjid (Place of Worship) in Melbourne began in the month of July 2021. Located in the suburb of Forest Hill, 18km East of Melbourne’s Central Business District, the masjid replaces the original structure at the site, an old community centre.
The plans for the Masjid (Place of Worship) were approved by the 53rd community leader & spiritual father His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin (T.U.S) during a diplomatic visit to Bali in 2019. In August 2019, with his blessings, ground was broken despite all odds and its construction has gone uninterrupted in the midst of a worldwide pandemic.
Completion of the masjid is slated for end-2022, and the Melbourne Dawoodi Bohra Community hope to welcome His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin to Melbourne for its inauguration.
